SUN Area Council of Republican Women welcomed the 2014 Loretta M. Sprenkle Memorial Essay Contest winners to its May meeting held in Lewisburg.  The winners presented their essays and received their awards in front of club members, family and friends.

This year’s senior high winner is Jenna Jurasich of Mount Carmel High School who wrote on, “Why did the founders choose a republic over a democracy?”

Junior High winner Noah Stamm, a home schooled student from New Columbia, wrote on the topic, “My American Hero.”

The Loretta M. Sprenkle Memorial Essay Contest honors the contribution of Loretta Sprenkle, SUNACRW founding member, who invested her life into her family and community.  She was committed to educating youth on the importance of Americanism.
