2017 Sprenkle Essay Rules and Entry Form
SUN Area Council of Republican Women announces the Fourth Annual Loretta M. Sprenkle Memorial Essay Contest open to students in grades 7-12 who are residents of Snyder, Union or Northumberland counties. The contest is open to students who attend public, private, parochial or home schools.
Loretta Sprenkle was a founding member of SUN Area Council of Republican Women. She served residents of Snyder County as a county deputy treasurer, Republican committeewoman, and was heavily involved in civic and church activities. Mrs. Sprenkle passed away suddenly in early 2012 leaving a legacy of love of God, Family and Country. She was committed to educating youth on the importance of Americanism.
Students will write an essay entitled, “What was the most important event in US history and why? Essays will be judged in two divisions, grades 7-9 and grades 10-12. Each division will award a first place prize of $100 and a certificate. Those who place second will receive $50 and a certificate. Winners will be given the opportunity to read their essays and receive their awards at our May SUNACRW meeting in Union County.

SUNACRW will meet this Thursday, January 5 at 6:30 pm in Snyder County. We will be doing an overview of our 2017 goals and discussing gender identity related to the Selinsgrove School District policy and the NFRW position on the federal government’s mandates.
