This year’s senior high winner is Jenna Jurasich of Mount Carmel High School who wrote on, “Why did the founders choose a republic over a democracy?”

Junior High winner Noah Stamm, a home schooled student from New Columbia, wrote on the topic, “My American Hero.”

The Loretta M. Sprenkle Memorial Essay Contest honors the contribution of Loretta Sprenkle, SUNACRW founding member, who invested her life into her family and community.  She was committed to educating youth on the importance of Americanism.

Freedom of Religion

Our founders intended for Americans to have freedom to practice their religious beliefs without government intervention, but these day the practice of religion is being redefined by law, policy, and practice of an overreaching federal government.  The Affordable Care Act is one law that has brought this conflict into view of the American people as many non-profits and privately held corporations challenge Obamacare mandates that require people of faith to act against their deeply held beliefs.

This morning at 10 am the case of Conestoga v. Sebelius is being argued in the Supreme Court.  This case has far-reaching implications and it is imperative that SCOTUS comes to a Constitutionally sound decision.  To understand the details of this case click here.
