LEWISBURG (Sara Bartlett. WKOK News Online)– Over 10,000 empty red envelopes will be sent from the Central Susquehanna Valley to the White House Tuesday (today). Vice President of the SUN Area Council of Republican Women, Carolyn Conner, explains that it’s Red Envelope Day; a day to send empty envelopes to President Obama symbolizing anti-abortion points of view.
It’s a national effort, and Conner says they have been working for the last month and a half to get the word out to people who would like to send a red envelope. The envelopes are empty to represent a life that can no longer contribute to society. Conner says the color also plays a significant role. She says red represents the blood of a child lost to abortion.
Conner says she hopes the grassroots effort will make a big impact, and she encourages anyone who feels strongly about abortion to send an envelope. For more information on the day, go to http://www.redenvelopeday.com.
