Unregulated Abortion is the Beginning and End-All

An interesting development in PA politics is happening in southeastern Pennsylvania.  Even though it is happening on the other side of the aisle it bears notice for Republican women.

You may remember State Representative Margo Davidson’s statement on the House floor referring to death of her cousin, a victim of Kermit Gosnell and his horrific Philadelphia clinic.  Rep. Davidson joined others in supporting measures to regulate abortion clinics under the same standards as other free-standing medical clinics requiring what most of us expect when we access medical care:  sterile instruments, clean rooms, and properly trained personnel.

It turns out Rep. Davidson committed a crime, at least in the eyes of Planned Parenthood and similar pro-abortion organizations.  And they intend to make her pay by removing her from office.  Rep. Davidson still supports abortion rights, but that no longer matters to the degree it did when Pennsylvania affiliates of Planned Parenthood endorsed her in 2010.  This year her primary opposition enjoys the support and endorsements of the pro-abortion crowd.

Now we don’t agree with Margo Davidson on very many policy issues, but we can recognize when PP, NOW and other advocates of unrestricted abortion out themselves in spite of all their well-framed lines about caring for women.  Their definition of caring for women is looking the other way when women are victimized and punishing those who won’t.

It’s A Girl!

“It’s a girl!” may be an exuberant phrase uttered when finding that one is expecting a little bundle of pink joy, but increasingly that exclamation is not one of happiness.  Sex selection abortion is on the rise in the Unites States and other western counties.  It’s A Girl is a documentary about the practice in the most populous countries in the world.  The agony and dispassion are equally heart wrenching in this trailer.

Pro-Life Strategy

SUNACRW believes the writers of the Declaration of Independence got it right when they put the “Right to Life” first in the list of unalienable rights. There simply cannot be a right to Liberty and the Pursuit of Happiness without first having Life.

While Republicans are accused of a “War on Women” it is indeed pro-abortions advocates who demand that women have the right to take away the most basic of human rights: Life.

At last week’s RNC Winter Meeting the Republican National Committee approved a resolution that directs Republican candidates and party operatives to approach campaigns with open support for Life. They are instructed to be vocal and fight back against those who attempt to silence them on our party’s anti-abortion/pro-life position. We applaud the RNC.

RESOLUTION ON REPUBLICAN PRO-LIFE STRATEGY

Whereas, The Democrats have waged a deceptive “War on Women” attack against Republican pro-life candidates, demonizing them and manipulating American voters;

Whereas, The Republican Party is proud to stand up for the rights of the unborn and believe all Americans have an unalienable right to life as stated in The Declaration of Independence;

Whereas, Pro-life Republicans should fight back against deceptive rhetoric regardless of those in the Republican Party who encourage them to stay silent;

Whereas, Candidates who stay silent on pro-life issues do not identify with key voters, fail to alert voters to the Democrats’ extreme pro-abortion stances, and have lost their elections;

Whereas, According to the extensive polling conducted by Gallup since 1975, many Republican stances regarding abortion garner at least 60 % support from the public and across the political spectrum:

 • 87% support informed-consent laws about certain possible risks of the abortion procedure;
• 80% support banning abortion during the 3rd trimester;
• 71% support parental consent laws;
• 69% support imposing a 24-hour wait period before an abortion;
• 64% of Americans support banning abortion during the 2nd trimester;
• 64% support banning partial-birth abortion;
• 64% support spousal notification laws that require the husband to be simply notified if his wife seeks an abortion;

Whereas, Staying silent fails because this strategy allows Democrats to define the Republican brand and prevents the Republican Party from taking advantage of widely supported pro-life positions listed above to attract traditional and new values voters; and

Whereas, Staying silent fails to alert voters to the Democrats’ extreme pro-abortion stances, which voters are repelled by; therefore let it be

RESOLVED, The Republican National Committee condemns the Democrats’ deceptive “war on women” rhetoric;

RESOLVED, The Republican National Committee will support Republican pro-life candidates who fight back against Democratic deceptive “war on women” rhetoric by pointing out the extreme positions on abortion held by Democratic opponents;

RESOLVED, The Republican National Committee will not support the strategy of Republican pro-life candidates who stay silent in the face of such deceptive rhetoric; and,

RESOLVED, The Republican National Committee urges all Republican pro-life candidates, consultants, and other national Republican Political Action Committees to reject a strategy of silence on the abortion issue when candidates are attacked with “war on women” rhetoric.

Protect Life

Not in D.C. today?  Not everyone who wants to be at The March for Life is.  Certainly Washington has become the place to be on January 22, but it’s not the only place we can make an impact for Life.

• Republican Women acknowledge God as the Creator of all life. We pray for our leaders, our country and each other. Today we pray for those traveling to and from D.C., those who are facing difficult pregnancies, and the counselors who work with them. We pray the hearts of the abortionists are turned.

• Wear a precious feet pin. The pins are exact models of the feet of a 10 week pre-born baby. SUNACRW has these pins with a developmental timeline available in English or Spanish for $1 each. Ask one of our members or email us to get yours today.

• Place a pro-life bumper sticker on your vehicle. In campaigns a bumper sticker is considered the equivalent of $50 of advertising. Think of all the people who will see our cars this year. How much is that worth? How many might we impact?

• Our local pregnancy care centers need the financial support, maternity and baby items to supply the needs of those who choose life. They also need volunteers to keep the centers running. There’s a way for each of us to help no matter our personality, expertise or personal resources. Two centers operate in the SUN counties: Pregnancy Care Center of Shamokin and Expectations Women’s Center in Lewisburg. Contact one today.

• Support Pro-Life candidates. This year Pennsylvania is faced with a gubernatorial race that pits pro-life Republicans against radical pro-abortion Democrats. Use your time and resources to help pro-life candidates win statewide and national races in 2014. (There’s no pro-life candidate? Recruit a like-minded person or consider running yourself.)

• Educate yourself and others. Websites like www.abort73.com and the 180 documentary provide valuable information to help us be proactive in all areas of our lives.  Learn to defend your pro-life views in 5 minutes or less.

S.1670, The Pain Capable Unborn Child Protection Act, passed the U.S. House in 2013 and is gathering sponsors in the U.S. Senate.  Please thank Sen. Pat Toomey for his support.   Appeal to Sen. Casey to join the list of senators supporting life.

“More than a decade ago, a Supreme Court decision literally wiped off the books of fifty states statutes protecting the rights of unborn children. Abortion on demand now takes the lives of up to 1.5 million unborn children a year. Human life legislation ending this tragedy will some day pass the Congress, and you and I must never rest until it does. Unless and until it can be proven that the unborn child is not a living entity, then its right to life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness must be protected.”
― President Ronald Reagan

Expectations Womens Center, Coal Township

On Wednesday our group delivered baby supplies to the pregnancy care center in Shamokin.  We had a wonderful tour and overview of the facility with the director, Margie Conrad.
