Second Annual Loretta M. Sprenkle Memorial Essay Contest

SUN Area Council of Republican Women is sponsoring the Loretta M. Sprenkle Memorial Essay Contest open to students in grades 7-12 who are residents of Snyder, Union or Northumberland counties.   The contest is open to students who attend public, private, parochial or home schools.

Loretta Sprenkle was a founding member of SUN Area Council of Republican Women.   She served residents of Snyder County as a county deputy treasurer, Republican committeewoman, and was heavily involved in civic and church activities.  Mrs. Sprenkle passed away suddenly in early 2012 leaving a legacy of love of God, Family and Country.  She was committed to educating youth on the importance of Americanism.

Students will write an essay entitled, “The American Patriot I Most Admire.”  Essays will be judged in two divisions, grades 7-9 and grades 10-12.  Each division will award a first place prize of $100 and a certificate.  Those who place second will receive $50 and a certificate.  Winners will be given the opportunity to read their essays and receive their awards at a future SUNACRW meeting.

All entries must be postmarked by April 1, 2015 and include an official entry form.  If you have questions or comments please email sunacrw@gmail or call 570-568-1217.
