Protect Life

Not in D.C. today?  Not everyone who wants to be at The March for Life is.  Certainly Washington has become the place to be on January 22, but it’s not the only place we can make an impact for Life.

• Republican Women acknowledge God as the Creator of all life. We pray for our leaders, our country and each other. Today we pray for those traveling to and from D.C., those who are facing difficult pregnancies, and the counselors who work with them. We pray the hearts of the abortionists are turned.

• Wear a precious feet pin. The pins are exact models of the feet of a 10 week pre-born baby. SUNACRW has these pins with a developmental timeline available in English or Spanish for $1 each. Ask one of our members or email us to get yours today.

• Place a pro-life bumper sticker on your vehicle. In campaigns a bumper sticker is considered the equivalent of $50 of advertising. Think of all the people who will see our cars this year. How much is that worth? How many might we impact?

• Our local pregnancy care centers need the financial support, maternity and baby items to supply the needs of those who choose life. They also need volunteers to keep the centers running. There’s a way for each of us to help no matter our personality, expertise or personal resources. Two centers operate in the SUN counties: Pregnancy Care Center of Shamokin and Expectations Women’s Center in Lewisburg. Contact one today.

• Support Pro-Life candidates. This year Pennsylvania is faced with a gubernatorial race that pits pro-life Republicans against radical pro-abortion Democrats. Use your time and resources to help pro-life candidates win statewide and national races in 2014. (There’s no pro-life candidate? Recruit a like-minded person or consider running yourself.)

• Educate yourself and others. Websites like www.abort73.com and the 180 documentary provide valuable information to help us be proactive in all areas of our lives.  Learn to defend your pro-life views in 5 minutes or less.

• Contact our elected officials at local,  state and national levels. If they are opposed to abortion, thank them for standing for life. If they promote abortion in public policy and law, tell them you disagree and why.

S.1670, The Pain Capable Unborn Child Protection Act, passed the U.S. House in 2013 and is gathering sponsors in the U.S. Senate.  Please thank Sen. Pat Toomey for his support.   Appeal to Sen. Casey to join the list of senators supporting life.

“More than a decade ago, a Supreme Court decision literally wiped off the books of fifty states statutes protecting the rights of unborn children. Abortion on demand now takes the lives of up to 1.5 million unborn children a year. Human life legislation ending this tragedy will some day pass the Congress, and you and I must never rest until it does. Unless and until it can be proven that the unborn child is not a living entity, then its right to life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness must be protected.”
― President Ronald Reagan

RNC Chair Affirms Life; Moves Winter Meeting to Attend March for Life

“Next week is the RNC Winter Meeting, and this time around it’s being held in Washington, D.C. As many Life News readers know, that coincides with the annual March for Life.

As a proud pro-life Republican, I saw this as a great opportunity for us to participate in this meaningful event. So we adjusted the schedule and pushed back our meetings and official business to allow our members who want to participate to join in the march. We even rented a bus so that they can get to the rally. The march is a much more important cause; business can wait. On Wednesday, we’ll travel to the Mall together to join with hundreds of thousands of people from across the country gathering to support life.

We’ll be there to send a message: We are a pro-life party. Life is a gift, and it must be protected. That means advocating for our beliefs, embracing the right to life, and celebrating the blessing of adoption.” *  So begins the opinion piece written by RNC Chairman Reince Priebus.

Earlier this month Chairman Priebus, whose unabashed pro-life stance was celebrated by conservatives when he was first elected the national leader in 2011, had earlier announced he moved the Winter Meeting start time so that those attending the national meeting could attend the 41st annual March for Life on January 22.

Priebus reacted to RNC members who originally planned to charter a bus and attend the Rally and March on their own.  “I saw that there was a real interest among a significant portion of our members to attend and support the Rally for Life,” Priebus said in a Newsmax story. This is a core principle of our party. It was natural for me to support our members and our principles.”*

Life Envelope Day

Life Envelope Day, previously known as Red Envelope Day, started in 2009 when Pro-Life Americans flooded The White House, Congress, and the Supreme Court with over one million empty red envelopes. Each empty envelope memorialized one child’s life left empty by the abortion holocaust. The envelopes arrived the week of other remembrances of the 1973 Roe v. Wade decision in what was one of the largest grassroots protest of any kind in U.S. history.

Life Envelope Day continues to be an important part of the activities surrounding January 22nd.  This year red envelopes with a pro-life message will once again make their way through the US postal service gathering notice at all levels until they reach their government officials.

More than 3,000 precious lives are snuffed out by abortions every single day in the U.S. We can’t give up on this fight or sit on the sidelines or it will never change. Our policy-makers need to know where we stand on this issue and they need to know that we expect them to finally do something about it.

Join the members of SUNACRW in fighting abortion.  Send your own red envelopes or use the services found here.
