National Human Trafficking Awareness Day is recognized each year on January 11th. Activities occur around the state to build awareness of human trafficking. Victims may be sexually exploited, endure forced labor, or be financially indebted.
Normally we would not recommend symbolism over substance, but the Dept. of Homeland Security’s #WearBlue campaign is designed to bring attention to the growing – and profitable – scourge of human trafficking. Many of our neighbors and friends are unaware of how large a problem we face.
Let’s help raise some awareness. Strike up a conversation with someone else about the types of trafficking. Share on social media. Use the hashtag. Find out more here.
Anyone can participate, all you need is a piece of blue clothing!
