SUN Area Council of Republican Women is an unabashedly pro-life group committed to protecting life from conception until natural death.  We are pleased to support and proclaim the work being done in our area by several organizations including Expectations in Lewisburg, Birthright in Sunbury and Pregnancy Care Center in Shamokin.

Today our President, Carolyn Conner, had the privilege to attend a special meeting with other community leaders at the Pregnancy Care Center, Shamokin.  Executive Director Margie Conrad and Development Director Joan Duncheskie presented the history, current status and plans for the center.   The new location at 150 S. Market Street has been remodeled and presents possibilities for a future medical center that could offer ultrasounds and STD testing.  Clients learn parenting skills through the Earn to Learn program and can use their incentive dollars to shop at the PCC store next door.

The future is bright in lower Northumberland County as PCC works harder than ever to meet the needs of its ever-growing client base.  Last year PCC had 1147 client visits and it now exceeds an annual budget of $100,000.  Every contribution of time, money or items helps proclaim the message that life is valuable to vulnerable young women and their partners.  An increasing number of men turn to the PCC to learn parenting skills and how to make positive life choices for themselves and their families.

SUNACRW encourages all Republican women to partner with us or directly with the PCC to support life and positive life choices.  There is a continual need for volunteers, financial support and practical donations.   On Friday May 10th SUNACRW will deliver collected goods (diapers, clothing, cribs, etc.) to the PCC in honor of Mother’s Day.

On Saturday May 11 the annual Walk for Life will take place at Knoebal’s.  Walkers of all ages can participate in a 5K (roughly 3 mi.) walk on the amusement park grounds.  Afterward they will enjoy lunch with music and prizes.  If you would like to participate as a Warrior For Life please email SUNACRW@ gmail.com for a sponsor sheet.  If you would rather sponsor a SUNACRW member who is already walking, please email your contact information with pledge amount and we will be in touch.  No amount is too small or too great in support of life.
